Like a Terrier

youIQ Episode 20

Have you ever seen a terrier approach a larger dog? Sometimes they cower, but most of the time they are fearless. Why is that? Well, it has to do with their self-image. They don’t see themselves as smaller. They see themselves as more than adequate to take on that larger dog, or a challenge, or just about anything that life dishes up!

So often, we hold ourselves back subconsciously because of who we see ourselves to be. When we see ourselves, we see a person who is not smart enough, or we see someone who is not good looking enough, or we see someone who is not talented enough. This is due to the comparisons we conduct between ourselves and others.

In this first part of this mini-series on self-image, I consider Maxwell Maltz’s book “Psycho-Cybernetics”. That people sabotage themselves toward failure can be attributed to a negative self-image, according to Maltz.

But terriers? Nope, their self-image keeps them taking on big challenges with a warrior’s spirit. Think like a terrier, and begin to unlock success.

Be well,
